About Kimberly

Kimberly Beroset, MA, MBA, RYT, founder of EveryBody Is a Dancer is dedicated to helping individuals find joy, overall wellness, self awareness and self acceptance through movement and the expressive arts.

Kimberly began studying yoga in 2003. In 2007 she graduated from her first yoga 200 hour yoga teacher training in classical hatha yoga and since has graduated with a second 200 hour training with Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy. She is registered with Yoga Alliance. To understand the relationship between movement and wellness, Kimberly engaged in autoethnographical research for three and half years while enrolled at Goddard College in the Health Arts and Sciences program from 2005 to 2008. Her concentration and thesis focused on Somatic and Contemplative Movement Studies.

Continuing the study of the mind-body connection through movement she is in the final stage of an intensive mentorship program at the Leven Institute for Movement Therapy where she studies somatic expressive therapy, a highly innovative program with a foundation in body centered Gestalt therapy, somatic psychology and the expressive arts. She is currently completing requirements to become a Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist.

Certified in several additional yoga and dance-related modalities including Kripalu YogaDance, JourneyDanceTM, YogaEd, and Zumba Gold, Kimberly loves to share the gifts of movement with others.

In addition to founding EveryBody Is a Dancer, Kimberly also founded Somatic Ecstatic, Yoga for Curvy Figures, Move Your Meditation, Move the Team Forward and Full Figure Flow!

The Philosophy Underlying EveryBody Is A Dancer - Kimberly’s teaching combines somatic movement practices such as yoga, various forms of dance, and creative movement, in addition to journaling and expressive arts. She also offers individual classes in just one modality. Her philosophy of teaching embodies movement as a pathway to personal transformation, overall wellness and compassionate self awareness in addition to celebration of the body, mind and spirit in the present moment.

Kimberly believes that deep levels of compassionate self-awareness can evolve in the practitioner with an intentional inquiry into current mind-body state while practicing somatic movement. This compassionate self awareness becomes a vehicle to understanding deeply rooted behavioral patterns and personal constructed knowing patterns (how we know ourselves in relation to the world around us). We come to know and understand the restrictive and destructive thoughts, actions and feelings that prevent us from living joyfully and fully in the present moment. Only through a conscious understanding of our thoughts, feelings and their related actions are we able to transform our lives to a place where we are more free in our bodies and lives. Through this knowing and awareness created on the yoga mat and on the dance floor, we are given the tools to change our patterns and live a more balanced and healthy lifestyle off the mat and off the dance floor.

Kimberly’s philosophy, discoveries through her master’s study, various studies of mind-body movement therapy and celebration of self is the force behind the creation of EveryBody Is A Dancer.

Before EveryBody Is A Dancer - Kimberly graduated with an MBA from the University of Buffalo in 2004. Working full time to support herself through full time school, she became discouraged about working in a highly competitive Fortune 500 company. Feeling a call to a more spiritual and balanced life she moved to the Himalayan Institute of Yoga Science and Philosophy in 2004. Through the daily practice of yoga and dance while living at the Institute in 2004 and 2005, her life was transformed to one of more peace, joy, self acceptance and self awareness. Enrolled in the Institute’s Herbal Apprenticeship Program, she studied the therapeutic properties of ayurvedic and Chinese herbs, in addition to organic and biodynamic farming methods. She also assisted as the Marketing Director for several Institute initiatives.

Non-Profit Work and Working with Cancer Survivors - For 15 years prior to developing EveryBody Is A Dancer she was employed with, volunteered at and served as a board member for several non-profit organizations dedicated to improving the physical, mental or community health of seniors, children and the developmentally disabled. Kimberly is also experienced in designing and leading holistic health retreats for adults affected by cancer through her work with Bluebird Cancer Retreats in West Michigan.

She is a reiki practitioner (level 2 Usui) and Healing Touch (level 1) practitioner.
